Khaatein Peetein Ghar Ka!
The OG of Indian Food Blogging is here y’all! Here’s Food Blogging 101 for you guys. Also this fella is well-acclaimed all over the food influencer community and enjoys quoting Rober Frost in ways unimaginable. Read on....
Well, according to my mom, I was probably 3 or 4 years old when I was watching her cook in the kitchen ever so quietly, without her knowing I'm there. I had those big gleaming eyes and I said- "Mom I love you but I'm sorry, I probably love food more!"
Immediately a year after graduation, I started my food blogging journey. It was back in 2010. It was my sincere, unconditional and undying love for food that drove me to it.
I had always been a chubby kid, throughout school and college too. Y'know, one of those "khaate peete ghar ke" dikhne waale? THAT!
Food Blogging back then was completely contrasting to what it's like now. There were very few food bloggers in the country at the time. I could count them on my fingers. I used to diligently follow Anaggh Desai, Nandita Iyer and Kalyan Karmarkar. Now, the clutter of content and the flutter of fake food bloggers, is a sad state of affairs.
Of course, there were hurdles along the way. Especially because I didn't pursue it full-time. I worked during weekdays to pay for my food bills over the weekends. No brand collaborations, not much following and it was all riding on hope, hope that my constant creation reaches more people organically and gradually.
I'd be lying if I said that I am not proud of how far I’ve come. But, I started my blog as a pledge, as a promise to myself, that as long as I'm alive, I'll eat and keep a diligent log of my best culinary experiences. That hasn't changed even after 10 years of my blog's existence and I am sure that I'll do this till the time I sleep. Millions of dishes to try, before I sleep! Thank you, Mr. Frost.
Just like any other industry, this one's now so populated that those who might want to pursue it now, will have to work harder and smarter. They'll have to find unique ways to create content that grows its reach rapidly.
